Versatile Affordable Advanced Turbine Engine (VAATE)
The objective of the Versatile Affordable Advanced Turbine Engine (VAATE) initiative is to develop increased propulsion capability with a major emphasis on affordability. The key component of the VAATE affordability metric is a ratio or index of Propulsion Capability to Cost, referred to as CCI. The CCI is driven by the elements of production, development, and maintenance cost. American Technology and Services (ATS) is currently developing tools for evaluating and managing production and development cost. However, there are no models in the public domain for addressing and controlling maintenance cost of advanced propulsion system hardware.
